I cannot emphasize how important completely trusting your instincts is. I have found that whenever I do, things work out just right. And, the predictable opposite is also true. Regardless of what anyone says to you, always trust your instincts.
Case in point: My car was having problems. When I put my foot on the gas pedal it was unusually running hard and then suddenly it would sort of kick and run smoothly. It did this everytime I tried to increase the speed. Upon calling and explaining this to a mechanic that a friend recommended to me, I was told that it was most likely low on transmission oils or that it needed a new transmission. Two very different services that ranged in price from $120 to the great expense of $1500! In my heart, I instinctively felt that it was just in need of transmission service.
When I arrived at the auto repair shop, I noticed that there was another auto repair shop right next to it. I walked over to the shop that my friend had recommended to me, but instantly got a funny feeling when I spoke to the people at the front desk. I have heard more rip off stories about car mechanics trying to make a quick buck, that I decided to trust my instincts and asked them what their opinion was after test driving my car. Over the phone they had said it could be two different things, but in person, I saw something change: I saw the "gears" shift in their eyes and they said that I would have to get the transmission changed, the more expensive choice, without considering the less expensive service at all.
The funny feeling stayed with me and I told them I was going to get a second opinion. I walked to the car mechanic next door. I instantly got a good feeling from the owner. He had a humble, genuine air about him. He test drove my car as well and then after a bit of back and forth questioning between the two shops told me that he would recommend me gettting the transmission service first, because it could save me money and potentially fix the problem. He told me he thought that, that was probably all it needed.
In short: if I had not trusted my instincts I would have spent $1500 instead of the $120 I spent. The more expensive service would have left me without a car for about 3 days and I would have had to spend more money on a car rental. Trusting my instincts I only paid $120 and had my car back within 1/2 day.
Listen to others, learn from their mistakes, but always follow your heart and instincts.
Best wishes & blessings to all.

great post. unfortunately, many people hold "doubt" feelings too strongly and often dismiss their instincts. it's soooooooo important to believe in yourself and your inner instincts.
Once again, Liane! Thanks for stopping by and your comment. I highly appreciate it.
You're right, Liane. When I do trust my instincts, they rarely let me down.
